I typically provide original watercolors in frames. Paintings on silk are too difficult and complex for most frame shops to deal with anyway. That’s OK with me because I like to do my own framing. It allows me to select materials that I feel best suit the presentation of the artwork, whether it is on silk or paper. Either way I always use UV protective clear acrylic sheet over the painting rather than glass. It is lighter in weight, safer, and protects the painting.
